Functional Nutrition for Perimenopause
& Menopause
Personalized.
Virtual.
Covered by insurance.
You don't have to accept feeling "off" as your new normal.
Perimenopause changes how your body responds to hormones, blood sugar, stress, and nutrients. I use advanced functional testing and personalized nutrition to uncover the root causes behind your symptoms so you can stop guessing, start understanding your body, and build long-term health.
Hi, I’m Claire, MS, RD
Functional Dietitian & Menopause Coaching Specialist
I became a Registered Dietitian because I believed healthcare could go deeper - beyond 15-minute appointments and symptom management, to the root causes of why people feel the way they do. Functional nutrition was always the goal.
Then I watched my peers, sharp, vibrant women in their 40s and 50s, start struggling in ways they couldn't explain. I added a Certified Menopause Coaching specialty because I saw exactly where functional nutrition could make the biggest difference.
In addition to my private practice, I spent time as a clinical dietitian in general medicine at UCHealth, one of Colorado's leading hospital systems. That experience deepened my understanding of how metabolic disease, chronic illness, and hormonal changes show up in real patients, and reinforced why a root cause approach to nutrition matters so much.
Because this care should be accessible to every woman who needs it, I accept most major insurance plans across Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Virginia.
My Specialties
With every patient, I start by thoroughly investigating three areas — chronic inflammation, blood sugar balance, and gut health — using lab work and, when applicable, advanced functional testing. These are deeply connected and addressing them together is often what finally moves the needle when nothing else has.
Many of the conditions we treat together have a targeted supplement protocol — but supplements only work when they're personalized to you: the right form, the right dose, the right combination for your specific biology.
I've built protocols for the conditions I see most often: perimenopause foundations, HPA axis and cortisol support, gut health, thyroid function, and metabolic health. Every product in my dispensary is professional-grade and third-party tested.
No guesswork. No wasted money on supplements that don't move the needle. No wasted time figuring out what's actually worth it.
I partner with Fullscript to ensure you receive the highest quality supplements safely and conveniently. Unlike third-party marketplaces where counterfeit or improperly stored products are common, Fullscript sources everything directly from the manufacturers. Every brand on the platform is strictly vetted to guarantee ingredient purity, accurate dosing, and up-to-date third-party quality testing.

Common Questions
Why should a woman in perimenopause or menopause work with a dietitian?
Your doctor manages your hormones. I manage everything that influences them. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be a powerful tool, but it was never designed to optimize insulin sensitivity, rebuild muscle mass, resolve gut imbalances, or address the micronutrient deficiencies quietly worsening your symptoms. That's exactly where functional nutrition fills the gap. If you're doing everything right and still not feeling better, nutrition is very likely the missing piece.
What should I look for in a perimenopause or menopause nutrition specialist?
Look for someone with real clinical credentials, not just a certificate from a weekend course. A Registered Dietitian (RD) has completed a supervised practice program and passed a national board exam, which means they're trained to interpret labs, understand drug-nutrient interactions, and work safely alongside your medical care. Beyond that, look for someone who specializes specifically in perimenopause and menopause, not general wellness. Hormonal transitions have their own physiology, and a specialist will know how insulin resistance, gut health, and micronutrient status shift during this time in ways a generalist may not.
What's the difference between a nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian?
"Nutritionist" isn't a protected title in most states. Anyone can call themselves one, regardless of training. "Registered Dietitian" (RD) is a legally protected credential that requires a nutrition degree, a supervised practice program, and a national board exam. Registered Dietitians are also the only nutrition professionals recognized to bill insurance directly for medical nutrition therapy. When you're navigating something as complex as hormonal shifts, that clinical training matters — it's the difference between general advice and a plan built around your actual labs and physiology.
I have a doctor. Do I still need a dietitian?
Yes. Your doctor and your dietitian play different roles, and ideally, we work as a team.
Your doctor manages diagnosis, medications, and hormone therapy. I focus on the nutrition, lifestyle, and metabolic factors that shape how you feel day to day, including blood sugar regulation, gut health, nutrient status, and inflammation. When it's helpful, I coordinate directly with your physician, so your care stays aligned.
I also take a functional look at relevant lab markers to build a plan around your unique physiology, not a one size fits all approach.
Many of my clients already have a trusted physician but are still dealing with stubborn weight changes, fatigue, or feeling unlike themselves. They come to me to understand the why and build a plan that actually works.
I'm not a replacement for your medical care. I'm the partner who can zero in and help you feel better.
What does a first appointment look like?
Your initial session is 90 minutes. Enough time to actually understand your story. We review your health history, symptoms, labs, and goals in depth. No rushing, no shortcuts. By the end you'll have a clear picture of what's driving your symptoms and a plan for what we address together.
Does insurance cover nutrition counseling for perimenopause and menopause?
Most likely yes. I work with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield through Berry Street Nutrition, who verifies your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises. Most of my clients pay $0 out of pocket — and many have access to unlimited nutrition visits.
If Berry Street finds you're not covered, we can work together on a cash rate instead. You can schedule the appointment on the Berry Street website
or contact me directly (see below).
My rates are:
Initial session (90 min) — $150
Follow-up sessions (45–60 min) — $100
Here’s what working together looks like:
We begin with a 90-minute initial appointment where we review your health history, current symptoms, and labs in depth. No rushing, no shortcuts — just real time focused on understanding what's driving how you feel.
From there, follow-up sessions tackle what matters most to you — meal planning, body composition goals, functional lab testing like DUTCH hormone panels or GI-MAP stool analysis, and supplement protocols tailored to your specific biology.
95% of clients pay $0 out of pocket.
I've partnered with Berry Street Nutrition to accept most major insurance plans — including Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield — across Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Virginia.
Berry Street automatically verifies your coverage before your first appointment so there are no surprises.
In fact, many women discover they have access to unlimited nutrition visits with $0 copay.
